In Bareilly Ki Barfi, now a blockbuster all over India, the camaraderie of rural North India is skilfully captured through the story of three characters - Halke (Harendra Singh), who owns a paan shop, Tilo (Pallavi Sharda), his cash-strapped daughter-in-law and unlikely housewife, and Avni (Supriya Pathak), their long suffering maidservant. A clash of aspirations unfold in Bareilly Ki Barfi against the backdrop of changing times - its days as an exotic hill station fast receding into memory. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics. "Filmfare" critic Saibal Chatterjee gave it 4 out of 5 stars, stating that "Bareilly Ki Barfi is a solid entertainer and has more to offer than some larger-than-life big ticket Hindi films we've seen in recent times". Rohit Khilnani of India Today gave the movie 3.5/5 and states: "It won't make you feel like a quintessential Bollywood film, but it's an experience that you'll enjoy." Watch it for the dialogue, music and performances." Madhureeta Mukherjee of The Times of India gave the movie 4 out of 5 stars and said: "Bareilly Ki Barfi is a delightful rom-com that brings you back to the courtrooms of Cine Blitz magazine, circa 1980. Cute, clever and crackling with energy." Writing for Hindustan Times, film critic Saibal Chatterjee said that "the film is light on its feet but doesn’t shamble along. It's got an infectious joie de vivre." He gave it 3.5/5 stars. Bilal Lakhani of India Today gave the movie 3. 5/5 and writes: "Yeah, the film is light and breezy and not for the heavy-duty cinema-goers. But you got to appreciate the effort to make a film that isn't exactly about romantic chemistry." Rohan Joshi of India Today gave the movie 3.5/5 and writes: "It's easy to imagine this film enchanting an audience in a multiplex near you, if only we lived in a world where movies like this actually landed on screens." Anupama Chopra of The Times of India gave the movie 3 out of 5 stars and writes: "What makes Bareilly Ki Barfi such a delight is its lightness and accessibility. cfa1e77820
